Afternoon Report: 17.15
- There was a lot of economic news items to wade through today, not to mention the latest news from Greece. On the latter, it appears a deal has finally been reached, but after building up a head of steam already, the euro has not advanced by much this afternoon. Dollar pairs have generally been quiet, possibly as a function of better than expected US unemployment claims cancelling out any moves in the other direction.
- The biggest action continues to come from the yen pairs with the USD/ JPY extending its rally to trade up 0.56% on the day. This has been good news for the EUR/ JPY which is up 0.84% and the AUD/ JPY which is extending its recent rally, up 0.64% on the day.
- Gold is also benefiting from an indifferent dollar session, rallying 0.85% on the day.
